Solution-based Waterproofing: Do It RubberGard™ EPDM Style
Firestone EPDM Rubbergard Roof Waterproofing
By definition, our solution based waterproofing is the process of making a certain object or building watertight, so it stays generally unaffected by water. If there’s any water leakage, it may lead to more than one issue in your household. From a bug infestation to mildew, mold buildup, and in the worst-case scenario, structural collapsing – all of this can come as a result of water intrusion.
However, you should know that there are different solution-based waterproofing methods we apply, and not just the structural kind. Plus, all of our solution-based waterproofing is carried out with the use of one of the most trusted materials out there – Firestone RubberGard EPDM!
As the sole importers of this EPDM material, we’re happy to confirm that it resolves countless waterproofing issues, whilst offering longevity and durability in turn.
So let’s see what solution-based waterproofing can be done with RubberGard™ EPDM!
Waterproofing Your Balcony
One of our waterproofing solutions is to cover your balcony with RubberGard™ EPDM. This waterproofing solution is known as the “Balcony Seal System”, or just Balcony Wrap. A water leak from your balcony or terrace can cause cracks on the balcony itself, or lead to substantial water ingress to your furnishing, especially if the balcony is attached to a room. Not to mention, repairing and managing similar issues is expensive, so you want to go for the clever solutions at hand.
And, that’s where our RubberGard™ EPDM comes into play. Since the EPDM membranes are broad and lengthy, there are a few seams to reduce any incoming dangers. This solution-based waterproofing gives our EPDM rubber an average lifespan of 50 years, which is a superb number, and a result of the membrane material, strong enough to combat the harmful UV rays.
Waterproofing Your Box Gutter
Our second RubberGard™ EPDM solution-based waterproofing pays attention to your box gutter. Box gutters are widely used in almost every industrial roof. A clogged gutter will collect water, which in turn will speed up the rusting process. This problem can wreak havoc if any water enters the facility, which will cause imminent structural instability.
Luckily, we have just the right solution-based waterproofing approach to save you the watery mess. The most interesting part about it is that you won’t have to start from scratch and rebuild the whole gutter! Without using any seams, our EPDM rubber is simple to implement through silicone rollers, leaving no need for a torch to attach the EPDM to.
Resilient is an understatement!
Waterproofing Your Concrete Foundation
Ah, the good old concrete foundation – really sturdy. But, when it comes in contact with water, there’s no avoiding the cracks and leakage that come with it. Mending an entire concrete foundation is a costly problem and time-consuming operation. However, with our targeted solution-based waterproofing and our EPDM rubber, your water mess will be no more!
EPDM’s super-elastic membranes are available in huge and individual rolls that are ready to affix without having to make them on the spot! The EPDM rubber will stick to the foundation with an adhesive, preventing water from reaching the base and construction.
Not only that but the membrane is semi-permeable, meaning that it enables the confined and leftover water to escape, thus allowing the substrate to breathe! RubberGard™ EPDM is prone to tearing, cracking, and splitting apart, and it’s also vapor-porous.
Waterproofing Your Flat Roof
This is likely the most widely-used solution-based waterproofing method, mainly since roofs are prone to all kinds of dangers if not waterproofed correctly. The fact is, adding multiple layers of Reinforced Bitumen is a really outdated solution. At the same time, liquid waterproofing is prone to more risks from weather changes such as strong wind and the dust particles that go along with it. Moreover, liquid waterproofing won’t last you as long as our EPDM rubber, which can stand longevity of up to 5 decades.
The EPDM rubber is absolutely elastic and doesn’t require setting up any additional seams and joints. Plus, it has high UV protection and is simple to apply. The best part is that the rubber works with lower sloped roofs as well. We have exceptionally large premade rolls to waterproof your flat roof in a durable, and time-efficient fashion.
And, let’s not forget that, since EPDM rubber is an inherently flexible substance, it can stretch over 300% of its base length.
Waterproofing a Parking Deck
This solution-based waterproofing is one of the toughest methods to realize. This is so because a parking lot has greater ground to cover. Also, all types of climate change and environmental factors may affect the surface as well, and the same goes for busy traffic.
Don’t fret, since we and our EPDM rubber got your issue under control! By covering a parking lot with EPDM, you will entirely waterproof the surface, and ensure it is lasting, strong, flexible, immune to skid marks, and of course, visually pleasing!
The EPDM rubber can be surfaced on top of concrete and asphalt. And, it’s totally fire retardant, with no roots piercing through the material.
Other Solution-Based Waterproofing Methods
In addition to the above-mentioned solution-based waterproofing methods, here are a few other solutions to consider:
Roof Garden, Solar Roof, Slate Roof & Asbestos Waterproofing
Roof garden waterproofing is essential, since the water that goes into your garden may have a damaging impact on the whole structure. As many South Africans adopt the concept of roof gardening, we feel that it’s crucial to ensure that the framework is impermeable. Thankfully, our EPDM rubber prevents leakage and is fully eco-friendly, meaning it causes no damage to your garden at all. When waterproofing a solar roof, it’s also good to know that RubberGard™ EPDM membrane will actually outlive your solar panel!
As for slate roof waterproofing, EPDM can be installed over deteriorated roofs with slate tiles. Dealing with a leaky slate roof on a regular basis is aggravating, but our solution-based waterproofing approach puts your leakage, property damage, and mold issues to rest!
There are countless roofs made of asbestos, and you will notice, most of them are severely damaged as a result. If asbestos fiber particles start flying around, this can pose a serious concern regarding the well-being of those breathing in the particles.
To prevent unwanted health issues and sturdy up and waterproof the asbestos, we’ve developed a revolutionary waterproofing technique, using our EPDM rubber.
It is not just highly durable and elastic but also resists temperatures between -40℃ and 110℃.
As for water storage, EPDM has innumerable benefits that allow our sealing system to wrap entire reservoirs and dams using a single membrane, 15m wide and 30m long. This solution provides fantastic UV protection from the scorching sun in South Africa and is absolutely renewable.
