Water Containment Seal System
With the ever growing need to preserve the worlds largest resource namely water, Waterproof Lab has successfully installed 100’s Water Containment Seal System Wrap waterproofing systems in the South African Market. Why? EPDM is an extremely durable, flexible rubber membrane has some very discerning features against current competitors. The membrane allows dams and reservoirs complete protection against water ingress. Further the EPDM rolls are supplied in large lengths and widths to minimise the risk of water ingressing though seams.
The Water Containment Wrap System allows can allow for a complete dam or reservoir to be wrapped in one membrane as membrane sizes (15m wide 30m long). The EPM rubber sports excellent characteristic in that it is completely offers UV protection against the harsh African Sun, recyclable, fish friendly and has a 50 year life expectancy. The product is ideal for most water containment projects ie Dams, Reservoirs and Eco Pools

Waterproof Lab was briefed by TV3 Architects, a well-known architecture firm based in Stellenbosch, to waterproof a reflection pool for the iconic new Rupert Museum.
This residential eco-pool was featured in The Mission Fly Mag, as seen above. Waterproof Lab expertly lined the eco-pool with EPDM.
Frequently Asked Questions
Wherever water containment is needed, a watertight membrane is required to isolate the water from the surrounds & ensure that the containment material is leak free & compatible with storing the water in a safe & microbe free environment, whatever substrate it is collected on – precast or cast concrete, or whatever other substrate it is based on or in. Our Firestone EPDM membrane, being manufactured under controlled Factory conditions, presents the ideal, seamless, inert basis, either loose laid on a natural sand base, or fully adhered to the internal surface of a custom–built water containment structure;
Being manufactured under strictly controlled conditions & available in widths of up to 9m wide, 30m long & 1,14mm thick, it will be guaranteed to last many years, even in the most cruel Ultra-violet conditions – in fact, our Firestone EPDM carries a 15 year material warranty, backed by the manufacturer;
On account of the fact that our EPDM is manufactured in 6m wide & 30m long rolls, together with a tried & tested sealing system &we are able to supply you with a 15year material, & 3year labour warranty;
Pursuant to the above information, this is not a problem at all;
This is quite common with the older concrete farm dams, which we can remedy in either of two ways – Yes EPDM has in excess of 300% stetch capability with out affecting the quality.
Yes this is not a problem whatsoever
It is our standard practice to terminate all EPDM upstands by physically fixing aluminium Termination Bars around the perimeter of our material, with alloy nail-ins, along the top of which we apply a bead of our Black Lap Sealant, as a final insurance that there will be no water ingress behind our material.
Yes this is not a problem whatsoever. Our products are fish friendly and U V resistance
Another big benefit derived from using Waterproof Lab’s EPDM membrane, is the fact that it can be easily & quickly repaired by simply cutting a patch from a roll of our Quickseam Formflash (223mm wide), apply a coating of Quickprime to the damaged area, wait until touch dry & simply stick the patch down, making sure to roll it well with a rubber roller. ( The Formflash material is uncured EPDM & forms an integral bond with the membrane.)
Our warranty is dependent on the fact that the installation of our EPDM system has been applied by an accredited Waterproof Lab/Firestone Applicator, which will entitle you to a 15 year material warranty & a 5year warranty from the responsible applicator
The advantage of our system over others, is that it has been designed by a World Class company, Firestone & tried & tested over a period of nearly 50 years, all over the world & in many countries world- wide, within differing climatic conditions, varying from the desert, with a high UV factor, to arctic conditions, many degrees below freezing.

I have used Waterproof Lab on two occasions recently and have been very impressed with their service and expertise on both occasions.
In August, 2018, Waterproof Lab repaired a flat roof over a stoep, and lined a water feature at my house, that were both leaking. The flat roof was originally waterproofed with ‘Torch-on’ some 20 years ago and has leaked numerous places over the years.
Each time, the same product was used to repair the waterproofing, without permanent success.
It seems to be an inferior product, which is difficult or impossible to install on any flat roof that is slightly difficult, despite my using the most highly recommended installers (5 different firms over the years!).
I finally decided to try the EPDM product, based on published reviews and chose Waterproof Lab as the installer.
They impressed me at being extremely efficient at installing the product – and I am renowned for being difficult to please! I have had no Problems since then.
At the same time, they lined a water feature that was leaking – the builder had waterproofed it with a liquid product, that did not live up to to it’s s upposed claims. Again, the EPDM has shown no signs of leaking since it was installed.
Based on my satisfaction with their work at my house, In October, 2018, I asked Waterproof Lab to provide me with expert opinion on major Water leaks that have been occurring at a new block of apartments, Hugon Place in Claremont, of which I am a Trustee. They pointed out numerous problems that the builder/developer & well-known waterproofing company had failed to identify to us, or address properly, and the latter are currently attempting to fix these problems – which they have not managed to solve during the previous two years. Again ‘Torch-On’ had been used at this site; if it leaks again, I will be recommending to the other Trustees, that we appoint Waterproof Lab to install EPDM.
I would highly recommend Waterproof Lab for their expertise – from their expert advice, I would doubt that there is anyone in South Africa more knowledgeable than them – excellent service and what appears to be a much superior and more reliable product.’
Bruce & I would like to highly recommend your Company for its standard of workmanship & attention to detail, from the time we contacted you for assistance, to the time you handed us a not inconsiderable bill for work well & successfully completed.
As you know, we had endless trouble in trying to find a solution to the problem of stopping our continuously leaking low pitch flat roof, to no avail. Since 2000 we have been trying everything to alleviate our distress during rainy weather & it was only after contacting Waterproof Lab, that you managed to solve our problem for us.
The EPDM membrane which you guys applied in February, 2019, is the only solution that has finally worked! It’s such a weird feeling now when it rains, I don’t have to rush around putting drip catchers all over the house. It’s not cheap, but it does work….
And you’re also all such nice guys!
We’ve had ZERO issues with the section you did last year. Bruce recently completed the Polycrete on the remaining corrugated sections, but is not yet convinced that we need the membrane – time will tell, we may need you to come & quote after winter!
Thanks once again for helping us to overcome our nemesis.
We’ll recommend you to all our friends & acquaintances.
Water started seeping into our spare room after a crack formed in our wall following road construction.
We faced a potentially extremely costly and disruptive repair, but Waterproof lab were recommended to us through our plumber and we asked them to consult on the best solution.
The team were incredibly generous with their time, doing a few site inspections before coming up with a proposed repair plan. It was not an easy repair as required working with a number of contractors over a short period of time.
The team were always professional and on time, got the job done efficiently and with really good, quality results. We have had no issues following the use of the RubberGuard membrane, even during the most torrential rain. Thank you Waterproof lab for your excellent service, we would definitely use you again for any waterproofing needs!
